PETALING JAYA: CelcomDigi Bhd has kicked off the first of a three-part CelcomDigi MY5G CEO Roundtable 2023, as part of the CelcomDigi MY5G Series, aimed at helping businesses realise the true potential of 5G in Malaysia.

The event was held in collaboration with CelcomDigi’s strategic partners and global technology enablers, namely, Axiata, Telenor, Capgemini, Ericsson, Huawei, Kearney, Microsoft, and ZTE.

“The roundtable series covers actionable insights on how leading global businesses have leveraged the power of 5G and enabling technologies like AI and IoT to digitalise business for growth and transform industries in leading markets,” CelcomDigi said in a statement.

It added that the series sets the stage for industry captains of Malaysia’s top public listed companies, corporates and public sector at the roundtable session to exchange ideas and engage each other on the relevance of 5G for Malaysian businesses and industries.

CelcomDigi chief executive officer Datuk Idham Nawawi said driving the adoption of 5G in the country requires joint effort between corporates, public sector, technology enablers and connectivity providers.

“As the nation intensifies the rollout of 5G access, it is crucial to also step up the development of a robust 5G ecosystem in the country.

“This takes close collaboration and engagement amongst businesses across various industries, to drive 5G enablement in Malaysia and support the nation’s digital agenda.”

He emphasised that there was a shared goal of bringing value to all consumers and in improving the lives and livelihoods of Malaysians.

“We look forward to working closely with businesses to unlock the potential of 5G, and in turn deliver more value and benefits to all consumers.”

CelcomDigi chief enterprise business officer Afizulazha Abdullah said the group had already collaborated with some of its large enterprise clients to run several 5G pilot use cases.

He said CelcomDigi had seen the prospects of how 5G-powered solutions can help to digitalise and fundamentally transform operations and way of work to achieve better productivity and outcomes for their businesses, their customers, as well as their employees.

“We are excited about the possibilities that 5G can bring in advancing industries such as agriculture, energy, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, ports, property and utilities and infrastructure, among others.

“We’re committed to deepening engagements and exploring opportunities with businesses, as 5G applications require continued research and should be carefully customised and implemented with the needs of Malaysians in mind.

Following the launch of the CelcomDigi MY5G Series yesterday, Afizulazha said the company will also introduce a larger scale 5G business conference and tech showcase in Kuala Lumpur in the coming months.

“There will also be a series of digital workshops for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across several states nationwide, as part of the company’s ongoing drive to support MSMEs in digitalising their businesses.”
