MYSTARTUP, an initiative by the Science of Technology and Innovation Ministry (Mosti) and Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd, is collaborating with strategic partners Maxis Bhd, Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), Cyberview Sdn Bhd and airasia academy to strengthen the Malaysian start-up ecosystem and ensure its holistic growth.

The companies previously signed memoranda of understanding (MoU) in early 2022 as MyStartup reaffirms its commitment to providing a platform for entrepreneurs and start-ups to grow and scale.

Cradle Fund Ecosystem Development senior VP Ahmad Kashfi Alwi (picture) said the collaborations with the companies signify a collective commitment to fostering the growth and success of start-ups in Malaysia.

“By leveraging on each partner’s expertise, resources and networks, we can create an enabling environment where start-ups can thrive, innovate and make a lasting impact,” he said in a statement today.

Under the strategic partnership, Maxis will provide start-ups with opportunities to engage in Maxis-organised programmes and engagements, fostering potential commercial partnerships and project developments.

The start-ups participating in the MyStartup Accelerator Programme will have the chance to connect with Maxis for future business and potential funding opportunities.

Start-ups in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, smart cities and education technology can benefit from increased brand visibility across corporate platforms.

Maxis chief marketing officer Loh Keh Jiat said the collaboration aims to foster a vibrant start-up ecosystem, nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs and contributing to the nation’s digital economy.

“We are excited about the partnership with MyStartup, which aligns with our commitment to supporting innovation and driving digital transformation in business across Malaysia,” he said.

Apart from that, Petronas as the strategic partner will give start-ups in Malaysia access their Go-to-Market platform via the Petronas FutureTech Accelerator Programme, allowing them to achieve improved funding and investment opportunities and any technology acquired.

Under the MoU, start-ups in the ecosystem also have the opportunity to collaborate with corporate partners under the Petronas FutureTech 3.0 programme, such as Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), DRB-Hicom Bhd, Gentari, Khazanah Nasional Bhd, Sembcorp Industries Ltd, Hyundai Motor Co and Vitol, in addition to benefiting from potential investments of the local and regional venture capital firms.

Head of Petronas Ventures Arni Laily Anwarrudin said Petronas is constantly finding ways to support the growth of start-ups in Malaysia.

“Our partnership with MyStartup is the perfect example of this.

“We believe that by working together, we can create a conducive environment for start-ups to thrive, while driving technology adoption and business transformation,” she said.

Meanwhile, for the premises and business growth expansion, Cyberview offers special rental rates within Cyberjaya premises and access to various opportunities for business growth and expansion.

On top of MyStartup’s platform facilitating networks and connections with potential investors and business partners, through Cradle Fund and Cyberview, start-ups will also be able to connect with angel investors from the Malaysian Business Angel Network (MBAN) for potential funding opportunities.

MyStartup also started collaborating with airasia academy in December 2022 to empower start-ups with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in today’s competitive landscape.

The academy will provide guided learning content and learning programmes that aim to accelerate their upskilling efforts.

The instructor-led training courses also offer certification modules covering crucial areas such as digital marketing, cyber security, and software engineering.
