ISKANDAR PUTERI, March 22 — Entrepreneurs from among micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Johor, especially those affected by floods in Batu Pahat and Segamat districts, can apply for financing packages offered through the BRJohorNiaga programme.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the BRJohorNiaga programme would offer financing facilities with an aim to maintain the continuity of MSMEs via strategic cooperation between the state government and Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Bhd (Bank Rakyat).
He said through the collaboration, the state government has allocated a profit rate subsidy of 9.5 per cent for the micro-enterprise category and 3.58 per cent for the small and medium enterprise (SME) category, with a total subsidy amounting to RM26 million.
“Since Feb 28, 2023 until today, more than 85,000 people in Johor were affected by the floods, but thanks to the assistance from the federal government, almost RM210 million has been distributed.
“I am sure that in the Batu Pahat and Segamat districts, many traders were affected and I hope that via the BRJohorNiaga assistance, we can help the traders who are in dire need.
“Perhaps, at Perbadanan Usahawan Johor Sdn Bhd (PUJB) and Bank Rakyat, priority can be given to districts affected by the recent floods,” he said during the launch of the BRJohorNiaga Financing Programme, here today.
Also present were state youth, sports, entrepreneur development, cooperatives and human resources committee chairman Mohd Hairi Mad Shah and Bank Rakyat chief executive officer Mohammad Hanis Osman.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Hanis said financing for working capital and the purchase of machinery or equipment would be offered specifically for Johor entrepreneurs who are registered in the Johor Entrepreneur Data Centre (PADU) and PUJB system.
He said the financing allocation of up to RM100 million would offer competitive profit rates through Bank Rakyat's Term Financing-i product.
He said that for micro-entrepreneurs, financing of RM5,000 to RM50,000, with a tenure of up to five years, including a payment deferment period of up to nine months, is offered.
Additionally, for SMEs, financing of RM50,001 to RM500,000, with a tenure of up to seven years, including a payment deferment period of up to nine months, is available.
