KUALA LUMPUR: A matching grant worth RM100 million will be allocated for Bumiputera small-medium enterprises (SME) to explore business opportunities in the aerospace industry, said Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

In tabling the 2022 Budget today, he said the government would also provide a RM100 million Smart Automation matching grant to 200 manufacturing and service companies to automate their businesses.

"The government will also extend the reinvestment allowance (EPS) for two years, for existing companies in Malaysia that have expired EPS and EPS eligibility periods.

"This brings the total EPS period to five years. This measure is among the proposals from the Special Task Force on Business Facilitation (Pemudah).

"Therefore, the government will continue to review such proposals to improve the smooth running of businesses or ease of doing business to drive investment."

Tengku Zafrul also said the 2022 Budget would allocate RM25 million to explore high-impact investments and new export markets through the Trade and Investment Mission.
