Huawei Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with OE Edutech Berhad (OE Edutech) to jointly enable digital transformation among aspiring entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia.

Under the MoU, OE Edutech, an academy providing training for entrepreneurs, will collaborate with the company through its cloud business arm, to develop and implement educational programmes such as seminars aim at driving digital adoption among SMEs, Huawei said in a statement.

Huawei Cloud will provide OE Edutech with technical and business advisory support, the necessary digital tools and solutions, as well as share strategies and best practices for the planned educational programmes, it added.

“During these challenging times, it is crucial for SMEs to quickly adapt and use challenges as solutions for leverage. Many SMEs want to digitalise but find no solution to take them from a single point business to a multipoint business that is able to operate in times where business complexity and uncertainties are increasing,” said Calvin Khiu, chairman of OE Edutech.

Khiu said there are many examples where SMEs’ vision and goals are not met due to technological skill barriers.

As the leading SME platform in Malaysia, Khui said OE Eductech is delighted to partner with Huawei to assist more SMEs on their digitalisation journey.

Lim Chee Siong, vice president of cloud & AI business group, Huawei Malaysia said during these unprecedented times, it is critical for SMEs across all sectors to change the way they conduct business and adjust to the disruptions brought about by the ongoing pandemic by kickstarting their digital transformation journeys to enhance their capabilities further.

“Businesses need new ways to rebuild themselves in the new normal and digitalisation and technology adoption is the only way for SMEs to better prepare and future-proof themselves.

“By implementing and adopting new or emerging technologies, SMEs will be able to improve their operating efficiency and cost savings.”

“To this end, the joining of forces between Huawei Malaysia and OE Edutech will pave the way for the development of SME tech talents by leveraging both parties’ resources and expertise, which in turn will lead to sustainable economic growth across all industries,” Lim said.
