PETALING JAYA: Although RM490 billion was allocated under the eight stimulus packages announced over the course of the pandemic, only RM249.98 billion has been disbursed so far – just over half the amount.
In a written reply to Pulai MP Salahuddin Ayub, finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz outlined the percentage of the disbursement against the original allocations made for each stimulus package.
The RM249.98 billion that has been channelled to the public to date has benefitted over 20 million Malaysians and 2.4 million businesses, he said.
For the Prihatin and Prihatin SME packages announced in 2020, 65% of the RM260 billion allocation had been paid out.
The Penjana package, worth RM35 billion, saw 57% of the allocation spent on 3.7 million people and 153,600 businesses.
The RM10 billion Kita Prihatin package saw 95% of its RM10 billion allocation disbursed, the highest proportion of any of the aid packages to date.
Moving into 2021, 67.4% of the RM10.11 billion set aside for the Permai package had been distributed.
The Pemerkasa package saw only 17.3% of it’s RM20 billion allocation paid out. The ensuing Pemerkasa+ package had 85.1% of its RM40 billion allocation distributed.
Most recently, the Pemulih package, worth RM150 billion, saw 3.45% of its total allocation channelled to around 10 million people, or RM5.18 billion
