KUALA LUMPUR: Leading e-commerce platform Lazada Malaysia has launched the second edition of the 'Buy Malaysia' campaign to encourage Malaysians to support local businesses.

Through the campaign, online shoppers will be rewarded with special deals and savings when buying Malaysian made products or brands.

"In partnership with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (MDTCA), Lazada's 'Buy Malaysia' campaign runs from now until December 31, 2021.

"Consumers can look forward to various incentives when shopping online locally, including daily free shipping and RM10 off discount vouchers," it said.

Additionally, Lazada will continue its ongoing efforts to flatten local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) barriers to digitalise their business through the Pintar Niaga program.

The program will include benefits such as zero commission and listing fees for businesses to reap the benefits of onboarding Lazada's e-commerce platform during the campaign period.

"We've seen hundreds of thousands of small businesses come onboard since the pandemic.

"We will continue to expand our efforts to spur their growth, empowering local sellers to digitise and connect with consumers around the country through our platform,"  said Lazada Malaysia chief executive officer Magnus Ekbom.

As part of Lazada's 'Buy Malaysia' campaign, new sellers onboard Lazada's e-commerce platform during the campaign period will also be entitled to a special new seller package through the Pintar Niaga program.

The benefits include zero per cent commission and listing fee, zero per cent payment fee for all orders received within 30 days from onboarding date, and RM300 additional credits for 90 days.

Since the first rollout of its stimulus package for small and medium enterprises (SME) called 'Pakej Kedai Pintar' in April 2020, Lazada has aided hundreds of thousands of MSMEs to date to take the digital leap.

This has led to a 300 per cent increase of new sellers onboarding the platform with a growth sales uplift that more than doubled by the end of 2020.
