One of the biggest virtual entrepreneurship events in the state — eBizstart 2021 — will take place for 14 days from June 15 to 28 and is expected to attract about 20,000 participants from 12 nations.

Penang trade, industry and entrepreneurship development committee chairman Datuk Abdul Halim Hussain said the aim of the event was to provide opportunities for entrepreneurs around the world to showcase their business.

“It is a first of its kind global event which goes beyond borders through one single platform which will involve entrepreneurs, startups, business owners, small and medium-scale enterprises, government agencies and academicians, ” he said during a press conference at Komtar.

Abdul Halim said the state welcomed and supported the event, which is the way to move forward with the Covid-19 pandemic.

“In a borderless world, a virtual business platform is the future for entrepreneurship, ” he added.

The organiser of the event is E3Hubs Sdn Bhd.

Its co-founder and chief strategist Andrew Wong said the event would see 500 exhibitors, three major workshops with 150 speakers, 100 trainers and two major business pitching sessions.

“We are bringing together 150 entrepreneurs from around the world and plan to hold some 5,000 business as well as university technology matching sessions.”

Wong said the event would also see a women’s summit.

The exhibition booths are free for entrepreneurs and visitors.

The event is sponsored by the state government, Huawei Malaysia, Macrokiosk, Dattel and Enginemailer.
