KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis Bhd is offering a range of connectivity and digital solutions for small medium enterprises (SMEs) following its selection as a technology solutions provider (TSP) by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corp (MDEC).

The solutions are under the SME Digitalisation Grant including digital marketing, electronic point-of-sales, remote working and e-commerce solutions.

Concurrently, the telecommunications services provider has partnered with Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), which will essentially result in a simpler, more efficient and convenient application journey for SMEs.

Maxis has more than 17 types of solutions for various business needs, enabling SMEs who apply through Maxis to take up multiple solutions to accelerate their digitalisation aspirations.

Maxis chief enterprise business officer Paul McManus said the company was encouraged by the government's ambition to support local SMEs through the SME Grant to kick start and accelerate the growth of businesses.

"We are pleased to be working alongside MDEC and BSN to help facilitate and quicken this process through digital onboarding, single touchpoint and access to the widest range of cost-effective digital solutions.

"SMEs around the country are no doubt anxious to get their business back into full swing and we are ready to help them," he said in a statement recently.

SMEs will also benefit from a single Maxis touchpoint for a complete digital onboarding experience available across one of the widest retail networks nationwide.

SMEs will be able to have access to a dedicated help squad to assist them to find the right solutions for their business.

These benefits extend to all of Maxis existing business customers who want to have access to the grant.

MDEC chief executive officer Surina Shukri said SMEs were the key drivers of employment and economic growth for Malaysia.

"Knowing that, MDEC is committed to enabling this critical sector to drive towards digitalisation. While the SME industry has grown substantially over the years, we want to ensure this momentum will continue to move forward despite these challenging times," she said.

She said SMEs must take digital leap to become digitally-powered businesses and grow their operations on a global scale.

"We are therefore pleased to have Maxis on board as a technology solutions provider for the SME Digitalisation Grant as this inclusion will complement our journey towards accelerating the digital economy," she said.

She added the SME Digitalisation Grant was a timely relief in this challenging time as it would be imperative that SMEs receive the financial aid needed to accelerate their digital transformation to future-proof their business.

BSN chief executive Datuk Yunos Abd Ghani said this was the push that SMEs need to move forward with their businesses, citing that the bank was eager to help simplify the application process and enable SMEs easier access to the grant.

"Our efforts are in line with our commitment to improve the economic well-being of the country," he said.

SMEs will be able to leverage the RM500 million Grant under Budget 2020 to accelerate digital adoption and become more agile and competitive in these challenging times.

There are two categories of solutions eligible for subsidy under the grant, which are Solutions-Only, with a 50 per cent subsidy up to RM5,000; and Connectivity and solutions bundle, with a 30 per cent subsidy up to RM3,000.
