More Malaysian small and medium enterprises should use digital technology to realise global opportunities, according to Maxis Telecommunications (Maxis).

The discussions at Maxis' SME event in Kuala Lumpur recently included the impact of digital technologies and of using 'new ways of working' to bring more speed, efficiency and productivity to business.

"As digital enablers, we are helping businesses to see their potential to reach a global scale with Internet mobility. We are in a time where there is an increasing need to mobilise the workforce, virtualise workspaces and digitalise the customer interface, and today's event can help drive that mind-set change," said Shanti Jusnita Johari, Maxis' head of Enterprise Marketing & Mobility.

Kevin Lee, Maxis' head of SME said, "This event was all about inspiring new ways of working in a digitalised environment. SMEs are a driving force in the economy and it is critical that they have access to the right tools and knowledge in growing their businesses in such an environment."

Business leaders who shared their knowledge and insights into the market and digital trends included Morten Lundal, Maxis CEO; Azran Osman-Rani, COO of iflix Group & CEO of iflix Malaysia; Masaya Ueno, director of Rakuten Asia , head of Asia PR; and Leon Foong, general manager of Uber Malaysia.
