KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission is allocating RM1.2 billion for among others, increasing Internet speed in rural areas from 5 Megabit per second to 20 Megabit per second. “Another RM67 million is allocated for Mara (Majlis Amanah Rakyat) bus project to handle uneconomical bus routes in rural areas, RM70 million to continue with the Rural Business Challenge programme and Program Desa Lestari," said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today in his Budget speech. He said another RM60 million is allocated for amenity projects including flood mitigation projects with a focus to be given to Kelantan, Kedah, Terenganu, Pahang, Sabah and Sarawak.
